My first transition is with a new job. This caused several changes. I had to move to Washington, DC after living in New York for a year. Moving is always the most tedious part of the journey because you have to pack then unpack. I'm so glad I had movers help to efficiently pack and move my stuff. When I move to my first house, I am hiring movers! It's too much asking friends to help and rent a Uhaul. The longest process of it all is the prep time such as boxing up everything. I've gotten better over the years, but if someone else can do it better than me, I'll let them. I learned that when movers bring your stuff to the new place, you need watch them move your stuff. If they say it's impossible to move "x,y,z", that is only because they don't want to move it. During this moving transition,I had excellent service, but they almost couldn't get my box spring set into my new apartment. They told me I would have to buy a new one and that really upset me. I didn't care that everything was still unpacked, as long as I can sleep in my bed that's fine. I didn't have the heart to make them bring that box spring set up all 11 stories, but I really had no intention of spending extra money. Thank God a random person walked by and told them it is possible to fit it in the elevator and showed them
:-).
Since my move, I feel somewhat settled. I still have pictures to hang up and additional furniture to add, but I'm taking my time. I really like my new job so far. I've been with the same agency, but in a new area of responsibilities. It's challenging dealing with the workload because I'm on a small team, but I'm working with excellent people who are knowledgeable and great at what they do. I intend to become that go-to person when I need help with something. I like to be the best at what I do which is my goal with this job. A promotion would help too because DC is not the cheapest place to live. It's a great place to live, so I feel it's worth it.
